Magdalen College Music Society has a long-standing heritage numbering many important musical figures, from John Sheppard to Dudley Moore. The Music Society can make full use of the same places used by these famous performers, including the picturesque chapel and atmospheric antechapel, as we;; as the recently built auditorium, which is equipped with latest media technology, and provides a regular venue for larger performances.

The Music Society provides a mixed choir, the Magdalen Singers, an orchestra and the Magdalen Swing Band. All of these groups are open to any level of performer and aim to promote good quality performance and a fun atmosphere in some of the most breathtaking venues in Oxford. The Music Society also exists to promote all forms of music-making in Magdalen College, by offering support to individual musicians and chamber ensembles, as well as putting on weekly lunchtime recitals at which musicians from Magdalen are invited to perform.

The Music Society also holds a Christmas Concert, at the end of Michaelmas term, and a May Festival Concert, usually on or near May Eve, which begins the traditional Magdalen May Day celebrations, during which the Magdalen Choir famously sing from the roof of the college tower.

Magdalen College Music Society would like to thank, for their continuing support and valued help:

The President, Professor David Clary, The Dean of Divinity, Father Michael Piret, The Home Bursar, Mr Mark Blandford-Baker, the Magdalen Porters, Mrs Catherine Hughes, The Magdalen Deans, Dr Rob Gilbert and Dr Robert Douglas-Fairhurst, and Mrs Susan Burton.
